Reel Surprise Charters is located at SanRoc Cay Marina in Orange Beach, AL. Our charter office offers all types of fishing trips, from a 4-hour inshore or trolling trip to an overnight trip. We offer shared expense trips as well as private charters. We welcome families as well as large groups.
With our fleet of fifteen boats, we are certain we can find something to meet your fishing needs. We welcome you to visit our office, and walk the docks to view the fleet.
Captain Kenny fishes out of a Ranger Bay 23 foot bay boat that is fast and will get you to the fishing hole in a hurry while also providing a comfortable ride. The boat is loaded with state of the art electronics and also has a Minn Kota Ipilot that holds the boat on the spot allowing you to maximize fishing time.
The boat will also be loaded with all of the rods and reels and equipment for the species you will be targeting on that given day. Fishing on the northern Gulf Coast requires a plethora of different size rods and reels.

Captain Michael Shellen is a full time resident of Okeechobee Florida and has been fishing Lake Okeechobee since 1979. Michael is President of the Lake Okeechobee Guide Association and is licensed by the United States Coast Guard. Captain Mike fishes from a Ranger 521VX equipped with a 225 hp Mercury Optimax motor. Mike’s boat is equipped with all the latest technology including: + a Minn-Kota 101 Trolling Motor that is whisper quiet to move you silently into position to catch a big bass, + a Lowrance GPS in the dash and a Lowrance Sonar unit on the bow, + ample storage to keep all your gear below deck + and a built-in cooler to keep your lunch and beverages cold. Captain Mike is also an outdoor writer with weekly columns featured in Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers and the “Penny Saver Magazine”. Mike also writes a monthly column for “Outdoor Florida Magazine”, “Woods ‘N’ Water Magazine”, “Coastal Angler Magazine” and “Okeechobee Magazine”. Captain Nathan Shellen is a second generation Okeechobee fishing guide, and has fished Lake Okeechobee since he was a young boy. This valuable experience and time on the water has enabled Nate to develop valuable knowledge regarding the seasonal patterns of the bass and how to best catch them. Nathan is the future of Shellen Guide Service and has quickly developed a loyal clientele. His innate ability to find fish for his clients to catch, has earned him the title of Okeechobee’s top young guide. Aside from fishing Nathan is a Christian and a family man. Spending his spare time with his wife Kristi and his children Emma and Ethan.
Marsh Head was established in 2012 and specializes in year-round inshore charter fishing and seasonal waterfowl, and alligator chartered trips. Located in Shell Beach, Louisiana, a small fishing village in lower St. Bernard Parish. This includes Biloxi marsh, Hopedale, Delacroix, Point. a la Hatch, , and all
barrier islands including Chandeluer Islands.
The coastal marshes of Louisiana are world famous for their bountiful fish species and waterfowl habitat. Our fishing charters target species such as speckled trout, redfish, black drum, flounder and sheepshead, while our our chartered waterfall trips target waterfowl species such as gadwall, pintail, teal, canvasback, redhead and an occasional mallard.
All skill levels welcome from small children to the advanced angler are welcome. We can accommodate large corporate groups, team building activities, bachelor parties, a nice family fishing trip , and anything in between.
Every charter fishing trip includes top of the line rods, reels, tackle and live bait [when in season], fish cleaning, and ice.
The only thing you need to bring is a valid fishing license, which can be obtained locally or online from the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. If you are from out of state, Captain Jason can assist you with a temporary charter license.
Don’t forget food drinks and food , an ice chest to bring fish home, rain gear, sunglasses, and a camera.
