I know some folks are a little bit anxious when they line up a fishing guide. They’re considering spending some hard earned discretionary income to get out on the water for a few hours with someone they’ve never met and hope that they’re not wasting their money!
Well, I promise that I will make every effort to give you professional service, to be ready to fish at the appointed time with rods, reels, bait and tackle ready to go and I’ll make sure that my boat is clean and in good working order.
I won’t ogle your wife, girlfriend or daughter or make inappropriate remarks, but I will treat them with respect and help as much as I possibly can to insure their enjoyment.
I’m humble enough to know that there are better anglers in this world than me and that I can learn, too. Not every one of my casts are on target and not every fish I land is perfectly done, so I won’t expect yours to be and I won’t degrade your abilities, but work with you to help make the trip a success.
I’ll work as hard as I can to provide a no-hassle experience and be open to any needs that you may have. The plan is to get you and your party out on the water, enjoy the scenery, have a good time and do our best to catch some fish!

THE BOAT
The Tradition is 24-foot Carolina Skiff powered by a 2015 Suzuki 140 four-stroke outboard motor. Equipment includes the latest in Garmin GPS and fish-finder electronics as well as a Fusion Marine Audio system. The boat is outfitted with a custom tower designed specifically for sight fishing for Red Drum and Cobia. A jack plate allows the Tradition to access the shallow waters of the Pamlico providing quick access to the fishing grounds as well as an excellent platform for flats fishing. Overall, this boat is perfect for fishing in Hatteras, NC!

Whiskey Bayou Charters is an inshore guide service located in the fishing village of Delacroix, LA within 45 minutes of downtown New Orleans. It is owned and operated by me, Captain Joe Ezell. My passion for fishing goes back to my childhood years, and nothing would make me happier than to see you catching fish on a charter with me.
You will be fishing aboard a 25’ Majek bay boat that’s powered by a 300 HP Yamaha F300XCA 4 stroke engine, making it able to easily achieve a cruising speed of an impressive 50 knots.
I do not book any trip shorter than a full day because I want to be able to fully devote myself to my clients, and make sure you have the best possible experience. A standard trip involves fishing the inshore waters in the Delacroix marsh for Redfish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, and Sheepshead. I will have all the gear and bait at the ready prior to your arrival so you can focus on the most important part: fishing.
A typical trip lasts from first safe light until we limit, you are tired of catching or, we have been on the water 6-7 hours. We strive to make sure you have a fulfilling trip, but we have to call it around the 7-hour mark. We provide rods and reels (spinning) for use on the charter, live and/or artificial baits, and all fish are cleaned and bagged. You only need to bring appropriate clothing, snacks/drinks, and medication you might require for the duration of the trip (for details, visit our FAQ page).
