Fishing Tip / Report from The King Fisher Fly Shop

Open 9am-1pm-ish for Labor Day

Nice to see the pressure dropping off just a bit with school back in session and the end of peak tourist season. It won’t be long before the colors begin to turn and hard frost shifts the hatches dramatically. For now, the creek continues to fish with terrestrials like smaller hoppers, ants and spruce moths. As always this time of year, the chubby chernobyl in smaller sizes is a good bet. Mongo hoppers with CDC p-tail droppers have been very consistent lately too. There is a decent showing of caddis in the evening and this has been producing some good action in the couple of hours before dark. On many evenings, the fatties will forgo the actively hatching caddis to eat size 18 CDC emergers though. The upper section is still closed from the fires, but there is still plenty of water to work with. Have a good weekend!

HATCHES: hoppers, BWOs, PMDS, Caddis, ants
