Fishing Tip / Report from The King Fisher Fly Shop

Rock Creek is spiking pretty good, along with most of the Missoula streams. Rock Creek fishes pretty well through fluctuating river flows and typically you can still find fish looking up for dries. We have heard some good reports from the upper river. Fish seem to be keying the dry fly pretty well up there. Fishing a dry dropper in walking pace water has been very productive. For nymphs use double beaded stones, pat’s rubber legs, pheasant tails, sparkle stones, little black Sloan’s, and purple lightning bugs. Double dutch bugs, flush floater skwalas, royal chubbies, Amy’s ants in olive, and el caminos are all good choices for skwalas. Throwing streamers is a option as well. Yellow streamers are can be very productive in the spring.
