Fishing Tip / Report from The King Fisher Fly Shop

The Bitterroot flows are below the historical average, so wading has been a breeze. Fish have started to look for hoppers. #10s and 12s have worked best for us. Mayfly fishing on the lower river continues to be great, but cloudy days have been the best. Bitterroot stones/goldenstones have been out on the warmer days. Baetis and PMDs have been the main mayflies. Rusty spinners, D&D cripples, sprout baetis, parachute adams, and last chance cripples have worked well for mayfly patterns. On warm evenings, the caddis have been bouncing about as well.
