Capt. Keith Mixon/Mixin’ Work With Play Fishing Charters
June 23, 2017
Fishing has begun to pick up along Florida’s Space Coast. During the past week some nice fish have been caught and the redfish bite has been good. Live select shrimp or fresh cut bait (ladyfish or mullet) have worked extremely well during the first few hours of the day. Rigging these baits onto a circle hook and fishing them on the bottom along channel drop offs has been best. This is especially true in areas such as the Thousand Islands located along the eastern shoreline of the Banana River as well as the Haulover Canal. Many of these reds have measured within the legal slot size limit with the largest red measuring in at 34 inches long, reports Capt. Keith Mixon of Mixin’ Work With Play Fishing Charters.
